Rachel Tang
AHPRA Paediatric Occupational Therapist
My Approach
I believe that all therapy and intervention have to be family oriented, not only working with the client but also the whole family. All interventions should be able to carry out in all settings, for examples, at home, at school/childcare centre as well as in the community. I love working with children by providing them different opportunities to explore the world and search for the most suitable way to interact with the community. I have great interests in helping families and their children achieve their therapy goals by tailoring client-oriented programs to help facilitate the development of their gross and fine motor skills, social skills, self-help skills, and sensory processing and integration.

Getting Help
Getting help at the early stage will greatly benefit to our children. Early intervention is showed as an important strategy to improve children development milestones in all areas, such as self-help skills, gross motor and fine motor skills and sensory integration.
1.
Self-help skills,
e.g. sleeping, feeding, toileting, showering and dressing

2.
Gross motor skills, e.g. motor planning, balancing and body awareness

3.
Fine motor skills, e.g. pincer grasp, in-hand manipulation and in-hand strength

4.
School readiness skills, e.g. handwriting and scissors skills

5.
Sensory integration, e.g. auditory, visual, tactile, vestibular, proprioceptive and oral motor inputs
